Incredible Detail
We typically model your design after the original badge, medallion, etc. and select complimentary fonts. Once you have an idea of how you would like your final piece to look and the words to include, contact us.
Idea to Carving
Original
Before we get started, we discuss what you have in mind. It’s helpful if you send clear photographs (front, side, and edge views) of the badge or item you want carved — the best photos have the least amount of reflection.
3D Rendering
We then use it to create a 3D software model and send you a proof for your approval. You’ll be able to see all the details before we add text.
Simulated in Wood
Once the rendering is approved, the requested text is added and you’ll see a simulated wood version. This is sent to you for final approval before we start the carving process.
Design Details
Wood & Size
We carve our wood signs in walnut or cherry in a variety of shapes and sizes, and in 3-dimensions (such as raised letters).
We can create a sign as small as 3”x5” and as large as 3’x5’.
Fonts
We can work with most fonts and can advise you on what fonts would work best.
Finishing
We use epoxy to fill in the carved letters to add color and contrast to the text. All our signs are sealed for indoor or outdoor use with clear gloss, semi-gloss, or matte finishes. We can also laser-engrave the back. For hanging, we can add a keyhole if requested.
